Who’s more prejudice?

Filed under: Sometimes — Isamu @ 1:00 am

The word prejudice is often a word to a sentence away from racist. Their meanings both present the same idea: negativeness towards a particular group of people. Blacks, homosexuals; the list is endless.

I think it’s safe to assume that everyone is a racist. I won’t explain why any further, because if you can’t even pass that, stop reading this post right now. Sensitivity is such a double edge sword, it either creates or destroys diversity.

You can tease/make fun of someone for being gay, in this case, the truth doesn’t hurt as much as not accepting it if you really are one. Over sensitivity doesn’t allow maturity in a lot of ways to be honest. Racial issues are but a candle in the wind, they only burn because someone devotedly keeps lighting it up.

No one should be forced to be politically correct. We can rid the world of ill speaking bigots, but as long as there are people who recognize diversity, wait, let me rephrase that. As long as there are people willing to recognize how different the next guy is, the candle is still lit up.

Regarding the appearance of advertisements in Urithium

Filed under: Everyday — Isamu @ 10:38 am

Rarely, you will encounter advertisements on my website and this blog.

I have not completely sold out. Here’s a smiley to prove it.

=)

Having realized that for the two years I’ve had this website up, I have never paid for it myself. So I thought it wouldn’t be so bad to have some annoyance up to get a little money coming in. You have my assurance that these will never be wrongly placed in which people think I’m plausibly dubious of. In addition, these ads are guaranteed safe; no computer viruses or any adult content out of clicking them.

PLDT is suing us

Filed under: Everyday — Isamu @ 1:31 am

I don’t check our mail, when I do, it’s always bad news or another wrinkled post card from Adobe SEA.

This time, it was bad news. We were being sued by PLDT –well, not exactly. You see, we used to own a house in a nearby street that we sold because no one wanted to live there, I mean, it’s an awesome house with a pool and everything; this is not about that house though. As far as I know, the ownership of the phone connection wasn’t transferred. I don’t know how this process works in other countries whenever someone moves out but here we usually just change ownership to retain the phone number and to generally avoid the hassle of applying for a new one.

Apparently, this new owner hasn’t been paying his phone bills all the while the ownership is still retained to my mother. Cutting it short again, we were being sued for TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY SEVEN PESOS AND NINETY THREE CENTS. Disclaimer: This post is not about how serious the matter is.

No, I’m going to ridicule it.

First of all, the name of the law office the letter came from literally sounds fishy. Give me a break, if you want to be taken seriously, don’t name your business, specially a law firm, by appending a vowel in a trout. Second, do your research, and do it well. They did look us up alright, they know where we live. Little problem there.. they didn’t even bother visiting the house that should have been sued, but instead, sent the letter to the second address of would-be defendant.

This third one is.. odd. The last part of the letter sounds somewhat like an informercial. It specifies that if we pay about three weeks from now, the cost will be cut in half. WOW! It gets better, if you miss out on that great offer, the three weeks following that would still give you a 35% discount! HOW GREAT IS THAT?!

Fourth? They don’t even have their own domain name. I don’t know why a lot of companies haven’t realized this yet, but any netizen would be instantly turned off knowing you use a Yahoo! e-mail address for your business mail. It’s so unprofessional like.. this really reflects on PLDT (yeah I blame them for everything) a lot too for even partnering or outsourcing legal stuff to a firm that still uses webmail to do their online inquiries!

Now, for the best part.. let me say this again, how the hell do you expect us to take you seriously.. if the letter is full of typos? COME ON, a preformatted letter would have been better than someone putting his personal touch of “dumb” in it. COME ON, would you really take be threatened to pay this amount knowing that they don’t even know the “g before h” rule? We hope that you would be enligthened on your next course of action on this matter. We damn I hope that whoever wrote this is would have spared that t for a second so that the h may pair up with his g.

Is there such a thing where you could sue them back for suing you? That’s a good option for us.
